Riga, June 8 (LETA) - The Liepaja Party represented by the incumbent mayor Gunars Ansins has won the municipal elections in Liepaja, according to data published by the Central Election Commission (CVK).

Counting the votes in all 19 polling stations in Liepaja, the Liepaja party received 45.74 percent of the votes, which ensures nine seats in the city council.

The second place with 20.26 percent of the votes goes to the Latvian Association of Regions, which will receive four seats in the city council.

The third place with 9.27 percent of the votes was taken by the National Alliance, which gives it two seats in the council.

The other parties in Liepaja have not overcome the 5 percent barrier.

As reported, in many municipalities they have already been counted, but in others the counting has been delayed due to technical problems.
