Salacgriva port to reconstruct fishing boat docks

RIGA, Oct 25 (LETA) - SEB Banka has lent over EUR 2.1 million to the Salacgriva port authority for a reconstruction of the port's Berth No.2, the bank's representatives informed LETA.

Work on the design project is under way already.

This is already the fifth project at the port of Salacgriva financed by SEB Banka. Previously, the bank financed reconstruction works at the harbor, construction of the marina's service building Bura and purchase of port equipment.

Salacgriva port CEO Ivo Istenais indicated that in collaboration with SEB Banka, sizable investments have been made in the port already since 2015, which has allowed to expand the range of the port's services, attract new clients and cargo and get involved in yacht tourism activities, hosting regattas and yachtsmen.

In the first nine months of 2021, Salacgriva port reloaded 307,777 tons of cargo, which is an increase of 51 percent against the same period a year ago. The port also handled 95 ships, which is 30 ships more than a year ago.

There are three large and seven small ports in Latvia. Last year, Salacgriva was the third largest among Latvia's smallest ports by cargo turnover.

SEB Banka is Latvia's third largest bank by assets.
