Riga City Council decides to set up digital agency, close IT center
RIGA, Feb 9 (LETA) - Riga City Council on Wednesday decided to set up Riga Digital Agency and close the city's Information Technology Center.
According to the city council's plan, the new agency will be providing ICT support to municipal institutions, support implementation of the local government's sectoral policies, ensure the local government's digital transformation and development of e-government, as well as provide technological support.
The agency will also develop and maintain the local government's web portal, ensuring access to the e-services provided by municipal institutions.
The digital agency's tasks will also include implementing ICT projects in the area of e-governance and digital transformation, financed with the European Union's funds or other financial instruments.
Riga Digital Agency will be launch operations on April 1, 2022.
The agency will take over the obligations, rights and agreements of Riga's Information Technology Center.
A tender will be organized to pick the new agency's director. Aris Dzervans, the current head of the Information Technology Center, said that he plans to run for the position.
