Highest occupancy of Covid-19 beds reported at Vidzeme, Stradins, Jelgava and Gintermuiza hospital
RIGA, Jan 18 (LETA) - The highest occupancy of Covid-19 beds has been reported at Vidzeme Hospital, Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital, Jelgava City Hospital and Gintermuiza Hospital, according to information released by the Health Ministry.
At Vidzeme Hospital, Covid-19 patients have filled 87 percent of the beds designated for coronavirus patients, as well as 33 percent of the hospital's ICU beds. At Pauls Stradins Clinical University Hospital, patients have filled 86 percent of the designated Covid-19 beds and 93 percent of ICU beds.
The occupancy of Covid-19 beds at Jelgava City Hospital is also high, with 82 percent of the reprofiled beds and 61 percent of ICU beds already filled by Covid-19 patients. At Gintermuiza Hospital, also in Jelgava, patients have filled 80 percent of Covid-19 beds.
The total number of Covid-19 beds available to patients in Latvia was increased by 8 percent over the past week, from 874 to 1,030 beds, as hospital admissions grew. The total occupancy of Covid-19 beds increased to 60 percent at the start of the week from 57 percent a week ago. The occupancy of ICU beds, meanwhile, slightly decreased to 51 percent at the beginning of the week.
