RIGA, July 1 (LETA) - Edgars Gaigalis (National Alliance) was on Thursday elected the new chairman of Dobele Region Council, which for a long time had been chaired by Andrejs Spridzans of the Latvian Farmers' Union. 

In this year's local elections the Latvian Farmers' Union won nine out of 19 seats on Dobele Region Council. 

The National Alliance won four mandates, the Latvian Alliance of Regions (LRA) won three mandates, New Unity won two mandates and KPV LV won one mandate in the June 5 elections.
