Riga, June 8 (LETA) - The New Unity party, represented by the incumbent chairman of the municipal council Janis Rozenbergs, has won the elections in Cesis municipality, according to data published by the Central Election Commission (CVK).

The New Unity won 43.28 percent of the votes in all 30 polling stations in Cesis municipality. The joint list of the Union of Greens and Farmers, For Latvia's Development, Vidzeme Party and Latvia's Green Party received 31.86 percent of the votes. The National Alliance is in third place with 9.33 percent of the votes, followed by movement For! with 5.36 percent.

This means that the New Unity could have nine seats, the joint list of the Union of Greens and Farmers, For Latvia's Development, Vidzeme Party and Latvia's Green Party - seven seats, the National Alliance - two seats, and one seat for the movement For!

The other parties have not overcome the 5 percent barrier to enter the Cesis Regional Council.

According to the results of the 2021 elections, the current term of the Cesis Regional Council has 19 seats, ten of them for the New Unity party, three for the Latvian Farmers' Union, two each for the Vidzeme Party and For Latvia's Development, one for the National Alliance, and one for the movement For/Progressives.
