Riga City Council terminates cooperation with municipalities in Russia and Belarus

RIGA, March 2 (LETA) - The Riga City Council today decided to terminate cooperation with municipalities in Russia and Belarus.
Lawmakers from the Russian Union of Latvia (LKS) objected to such a decision.
The Riga City Council decided to terminate the cooperation agreement with Minsk city executive committee signed in 1999, cooperation agreement with Moscow city council singed in 2001, cooperation with St.Petersburg signed in 2006, and cooperation with city of Kazan signed in 2017.
Even opposition Harmony party lawmakers supported termination of these agreements. Harmony lawmaker Andrejs Morozons said that it is time for Latvian residents be united and become one nation.
Meanwhile, LKS representative Mitroslavs Mitrofanovs said that he does not support the decision because it does not give hope that the war will be over soon.
