RIGA, April 14 (LETA) - Starting next Monday, students in grades 1-6 and 12th-graders will be able to go to school in person in 55 local governments, or in five municipalities more than this week, while students in grades 7-9 and 10 and 11 will go to school based on rotational principle or two days a week in these local governments, according to the latest data from the Disease Prevention and Control Center.

Aloja, Broceni, Cesis, Jekabpils, Ligatne, Malpils, Mersrags, Rundale, Saldus and Skrunda regions have been removed from the list of epidemiologically safe local governments.

In the meantime, Adazi, Baldone, Baltinava, Cesvaine, Jaunpils, Karsava, Koceni, Krimulda, Krustpils, Lubana, Ropazi, Skriveri, Vainode, Varaklani and Vecumnieki regions have been added to the list of epidemiologically safe local governments, as well as the City of Liepaja.

The following local governments currently meet the Education and Science Ministry's criterion of no more than 250 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 residents over the past fourteen days: Aizpute, Alsunga, Amata, Ape, Auce, Adazi, Baldone, Baltinava, Bauska, Beverina, Burtnieki, Cesvaine, Dagda, Dundaga, Durbe, Engure, Ergli, Ilukste, Jaunjelgava, Jaunpils, Kandava, Karsava, Koceni, Koknese, Krimulda, Krutspils, Lubana, Mazsalaca, Nereta, Pargauja, Pavilosta, Priekule, Priekuli, Rauna, Roja, Ropazi, Rucava, Rugaji, Salacgriva, Seja, Sigulda, Skriveri, Strenci, Tervete, Vainode, Valka, Varaklani, Varkava, Vecumnieki, Ventspils and Viesite regions, as well as cities of Liepaja, Jekabpils, Valmiera and Ventspils.

The new list of local governments where in-person school attendance will be allowed will come into force on April 19.
