Riga, June 8 (LETA) - The results of the local elections of the Union of Greens and Farmers in 16 municipalities this year were better than in the previous elections held in 2020 and 2021, Armands Krauze, Chairman of the Board of Greens/Farmers, told LETA.

He also noted that the election results were better in regional cities and rural territories, as Greens/Farmers is not a Riga party, so the party was not surprised by the results in Riga.

Krauze added that Greens/Farmers was surprised by the election results in Daugavpils, as practically no "state-minded party" made it into the city council.

"But the results in Jelgava were weaker than expected, because there were better results before. In general, we also expected better results in Jurmala, because the leader of the Greens/Farmers list and the current chairwoman of the Jurmala City Council, Rita Sproge, has worked very well and without scandals for the last four years," Krauze added.

He stressed that Greens/Farmers has a very good position in Jelgava, as well as in Madona and Sigulda municipalities.
