Government allocates EUR 1.2 million to municipalities to cover damage caused by July storms
Riga, Dec 3 (LETA) - The government on Tuesday decided to allocate EUR 1.2 million to local governments to cover the losses caused by the July storms.
The money from contingency funds was allocated to Daugavpils municipality, Bauska municipality, Jurmala municipality, Ogre municipality, Olaine municipality and Tukums municipality.
As the Smart Administration and Regional Development Ministry informed LETA, the funds are needed to cover expenses related to the repair of damage caused during the summer storms of 2024 and to partially compensate for expenses.
Daugavpils municipality will be granted funding of EUR 21,751, the municipality of Bauska will be granted funding of EUR 92,176,
In order to cover the expenses related to the prevention of the damage caused by the storm and heavy rains on July 28-29 this year and partial compensation of the expenses, the ministry received the second part of the requests from four municipalities for the total amount of EUR 1,063,315, including from Jurmala municipality (EUR 923,953), Ogre municipality (EUR 38,820), Olaine municipality (EUR 42,888), Tukums municipality (EUR 57,654).
