Riga has nearly exhausted its capacity for accommodation of refugees from Ukraine
RIGA, April 4 (LETA) - Riga has nearly exhausted its capacity for accommodation of refugees from Ukraine, said Riga Vice Mayor Vilnis Kirsis (New Unity) in an interview with the Latvian public television today.
The politician said that registration of refugees is smooth, both registration centers are working well.
At the same time, the accommodation capacity has been nearly exhausted. If refugee flows to Latvia increase, Latvia might have to use schools and churches for accommodation, which might also affect the education process.
Riga has earmarked EUR 500,000 in its budget for dealing with refugee problem. When this money is used up, more funding will be allocated.
