Actual unemployment rate in Latvia down to 6.8% in May
RIGA, June 17 (LETA) - Latvia recorded a 6.8 percent actual unemployment rate for May 2025, which dropped by 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, according to the data released by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB).
Compared to May 2024, the unemployment rate declined by 0.1 percentage points in May this year.
The unemployment rate for women dropped 0.1 percentage points to 6.2 percent, and unemployment for men decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 7.5 percent.
In May 2025, there were 64,700 officially jobless people in Latvia, which is 1,600 people fewer than in April 2025 and 800 fewer than in May 2024. Over the month, the number of unemployed men dropped by 1,000 to 35,500, and the number of jobless women dropped by 600 to 29,100.
The jobless rate registered with the State Employment Agency was 4.9 percent at the end of May, down 0.2 percentage points from the end of April. Compared to May 2024, registered unemployment declined by 0.3 percentage points.
