    Meteorological summer has started in Daugavpils and Rezekne

    Riga, April 22 (LETA) - The average air temperature at Daugavpils and Rezekne observation stations has been +15 degrees C and above for the last five days, which means the beginning of meteorological summer, according to the Latvian Centre for Environment, Geology and Meteorology.

    Meteorological summer arrived in Daugavpils and Rezekne on April 17, about a month and a half earlier than usual. Meteorological spring continues in the rest of the country.

    On April 18, the average daily air temperature at the Rezekne observation station rose to +20.5 degrees C, 15 degrees C above normal.

    In Riga, the average daily air temperature was above +15 degrees C on only two days - April 18 and April 19 - while on Easter Day it dropped to +9.9 degrees C.

    In Latgale and Selija, the summer warm weather will continue on Tuesday, with maximum temperatures above +20 degrees C, according to the weather forecast. The air will be cool across Latvia at the weekend.

    This month, 70 warm temperature records have been broken, with the highest air temperature of +28.4 degrees C on April 18 in Skriveri.
