Another 15 local governments crossed off the list of municipalities epidemiologically safe for in-person school attendance
RIGA, April 28 (LETA) - As of next Monday, students in grades 1-6, grade 12, as well as grades 7-9 and 10-11 on a rotational basis will be able to learn in classrooms in 29 epidemiologically safe municipalities, or 15 municipalities fewer than this week, according to the latest data from the Disease Prevention and Control Center.
The municipalities removed from the "safe list" include Amata, Auce, Adazi, Durbe, Incukalns, Jaunjelgava, Karsava, Koknese, Krimulda, Lubana, Pavilosta, Ropazi, Rugaji, Sigulda and Vecumnieki, as well as the cities of Liepaja and Valmiera.
Meanwhile, Jaunpiebalga and Ligatne regions have been added to the list of safe municipalities.
The following local governments currently meet the Education and Science Ministry's criterion of no more than 250 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 residents over the past fourteen days: Aizpute, Alsunga, Ape, Baltinava, Dundaga, Ilukste, Jaunpiebalga, Kandava, Koceni, Krutspils, Ligatne, Livani, Mazsalaca, Naukseni, Nereta, Nica, Pargauja, Priekule, Roja, Rucava, Strenci, Vainode, Valka, Varaklani, Varkava, Ventspils and Viesite regions, as well as cities of Jekabpils and Ventspils.
The new list of local governments where in-person school attendance will be allowed will come into force on May 3.
