Schools to receive 92 laptop computers
RIGA, Feb 2 (LETA) - The government on Tuesday supported accepting 92 laptop computers as a present to schools from Baltijas Informacijas Tehnologijas.
Company Baltijas Informacijas Tehnologijas decided to present 92 laptop computers worth EUR 58,332 to the Education and Science Ministry to help to provide pupils with computers during remote learning.
Adazi, Ikskile, Aizkraukle, Carnikava county, Ventspils city will receive 11 laptop computers year, Valka county will receive ten computers, Liepaja will receive eight computers, Ludza and Karsava counties will receive seven computers each, and Rucava county will receive five computers.
According to Firmas.lv, Baltijas Informacijas Tehnologijas posted EUR 4,156,434 in turnover and EUR 260,227 in profit in 2019.
At the end of last year, the Education and Science Ministry purchased 6,261 portable computers from contingency funds, dividing them among municipalities who further distributed them to schools. Still, there are several thousands of pupils who still need computers for remote learning.
