Local governments may make decisions on opening schools if they are given information about Covid-19 incidence levels - Adazi mayor
RIGA, Feb 11 (LETA) - Local governments may make their own decisions on lifting Covid-19 restrictions if they are given full information about Covid-19 incidence, said Adazi local mayor Maris Sprindzuks (Latvian Association of Regions) in an interview with LETA.
He reminded that Adazi county closed its school when the government had not yet made the decision on remote learning. This decision was not based on official information, but thanks to activity of school employees and parents. Also now, one of the preschools is closed, but there is no official information available on the Covid-19 outbreak in the county.
Sprindzuks said that it is not necessary to know names of the persons who have Covid-19, but places where there is a Covid-19 outbreak - education institutions, residential homes, a production plant or army unit.
In his opinion, it would be more efficient if local governments made also other decisions, for example, on opening or closing stores. Local governments would be able to more successfully regulate flows of people.
