Heating tariff in Rezekne to increase fourfold
RIGA, April 12 (LETA) - Effective this coming May, Rezeknes Siltumtikli heat supplier plans to increase heat supply tariff in Rezeknee fourfold, LETA was informed by Rezekne City Council.
In April, the company's contract with joint-stock gas utility Latvijas Gaze for natural gas supplies, which was concluded "on favorable terms for the city", will expire.
According to the municipality, thanks to the contract with Latvijas Gaze the city was able to maintain a low heating tariff this heating season, while tariffs in other Latvian cities have increased significantly.
Rezeknes Siltumtikli has informed the Public Utilities Commission that the new heating tariff in Rezekne would be EUR 198.14 euros per MWh, without value added tax. Gas price makes up 81 percent of the tariff.
Currently, Rezeknes Siltumtikli heat production tariff is EUR 30.20 per MWh, from May 1 it will increase to EUR 159.91. The transmission and distribution tariff will increase by 212 percent - from the current EUR 12.05 to EUR 37.67 per MWh.
