Tram route network in Riga to change significantly from May
Riga, April 16 (LETA) - Significant changes in the tram route network will be introduced in Riga from May 1, Baiba Bartasevica-Feldmane, the head of the public relations department of Rigas Satiksme municipal public transport company, informed LETA.
A new tram route No.14 will be opened to connect Ilguciems with Kengarags. The route will provide low-floor trams, ensuring more convenient access also towards Ilguciems.
These trams will run alongside Riga International Coach Station, giving residents of Pardaugava the opportunity to reach the Central Market.
The current tram route No. 2 will be extended to Milgravis and will run under a new number - No. 8.
As the new route No. 14 will now be available to the residents of Ilguciems, the intervals in the timetable of tram No. 5 will change.
Tram No. 10 will now run counter-clockwise along the Central Market Circle after the construction of the overpass under the Rail Baltica project is completed in April.
