National Alliance gains representation in 37 municipalities
Riga, June 8 (LETA) - The National Alliance has won representation in 37 out of 42 municipalities in the recent local elections, Laima Melkina, a representative of the alliance, told LETA.
According to the National Alliance's self-assessment, it won five municipalities - Ogre, Bauska, Sigulda, Ropazi and Smiltene municipalities.
The second best results were achieved in Jurmala, Ventspils, Rezekne, Salaspils, Valmiera, Saulkrasti, Aluksne, Jelgava, Aizkraukle, Livani and Dienvidkurzeme municipalities.
In the capital, the National Alliance has increased its representation by one seat, gaining ten seats.
"The results of the municipal elections confirm that people value clear politics based on national values. We will continue to stand up for strong local governance that protects the interests and values of our people while developing regions in a responsible and sustainable way," commented National Alliance's Chairwoman Ilze Indriksone.
