Vidzeme Hospital has treated 128 Covid-19 patients in past month
RIGA, Oct 7 (LETA) - Since Vidzeme Hospital resumed admissions of Covid-19 patients a month ago, it has provided treatment to 128 coronavirus patients, including 27 vaccinated people, the hospital's spokeswoman Benita Brila informed LETA.
On Thursday, 38 Covid-19 patients, including three severely ill patients, were receiving medical treatment at Vidzeme Hospital.
The spokeswoman said that in the past 24 hours four Covid-19 patients were admitted to the hospital and five others were discharged.
Vidzeme Hospital has not yet decided on limiting some elective services. This decision will depend on the development of the epidemiological situation and the increase of Covid-19
Vidzeme Hospital has set aside 58 beds for Covid-19 patients, including six ICU beds. The situation with Covid-19 patients can change quickly and the current one can be described as tense, Brila said.
As reported, the State Operational Medical Commission on Thursday declared a state of emergency in medicine, Health Minister Daniels Pavluts (For Development/For) confirmed to LETA.
This means that healthcare institutions will have more leeway to decide how to utilize their resources in order to provide healthcare services to Covid-19 patients as well as other patients.
