Number of nights spent by guests in Latvian accommodation establishments has increased 2.1 times in the first four months
RIGA, June 15 (LETA) - The number of nights spent in Latvian hotels and other tourist accommodation establishments in the first four months of this year has increased 2.1 times compared to the corresponding period of 2021, amounting to 776,700, according to the Central Statistical Bureau.
Among them, the number of nights spent by foreign guests in Latvian hotels and other tourist accommodation increased 4.9 times in the first four months of 2022 compared to the corresponding period of 2021 and was 366,100, while the number of nights spent by local residents in Latvian hotels and other tourist accommodation increased by 41.6 percent and amounted to 410,600.
In the first four months of 2022, a total of 421,500 guests were served at Latvian accommodation establishments, which is 2.3 times more than in the first four months of 2021. The number of foreign guests increased six times and was 186,800, while the number of local residents increased by 54.1percent, reaching 234,700.
In April 2022, 145,000 people were served in Latvian tourist accommodation, which is 2.8 times more than in April 2021, according to the Central Statistical Bureau.
In April 2022, out of all foreign visitors 50.9 percent or 73,900 were foreign visitors, which is 8.6 times more than in April 2021. The number of nights spent by foreign visitors, compared to April last year, has grown 7.1 times and comprised 143,700. The average length of stay of foreign visitors comprised 1.9 nights.
The majority of foreign visitors came from Lithuania (11,300), Estonia (10,900), Germany (7,500), United Kingdom (5,100), Finland (4,100), Russia (2,800), Poland (2,800) and Ukraine (2,800).
Most foreign visitors stayed in Riga (80.3 percent), Jurmala (8.3 percent) and Liepaja (2.5 percent).
