EUR 74.796 million to be allocated for development of tram infrastructure in Daugavpils, Liepaja, Riga

RIGA, Jan 7 (LETA) - In order to develop environmentally-friendly tram infrastructure, EUR 74.796 million will be redistributed from the Cohesion Fund among Daugavpils, Liepaja and Riga, according to the government's decision today.
The Transport Ministry said that the funding is redistributed from the earlier program for Latvian railway electrification project.
EUR 23.179 million will be earmarked for tram infrastructure projects in Daugavpils, EUR 12.831 million for projects in Liepaja, and EUR 38.785 million for projects in Riga.
As reported, in July 2020, Latvia's plans to redirect EUR 400 million for reducing consequences from Covid-19 crisis were coordinated with the European Commission, LETA learned from the Finance Ministry. EUR 174 million were transferred for Transport Ministry's projects for development of environmentally-friendly public transport.
