Riga City Hall building lit in colors of Estonian flag on Estonia's Independence Day
RIGA, Feb 24 (LETA) - Greeting Estonia on its Independence Day, Riga has lit its City Hall building in the colors of the Estonian national flag, and an Estonian flag will also be flown on the building throughout Wednesday, spokespeople for the city council informed LETA.
On behalf of the city's residents, Riga Mayor Martins Stakis (For/Progressives) sent Independence Day greetings to the mayors of Riga's sister cities - Tallinn Mayor Mikhail Kolvart and Tartu Mayor Urmas Klaas.
"Independence, cooperation and friendly relations with neighbors are significant aspects of each country's existence. We have had the luck of being close and active cooperation partners for many years already. I would like to use this opportunity to express my appreciation and sincere wish to strengthen our cooperation even more," said Stakis.
