Number of Covid-19 patients in Latvia's hospitals decreases insignificantly in past day
RIGA, June 17 (LETA) - In the last 24 hours the number of Covid-19 patients in Latvia's hospitals dropped from 136 to 133, the National Health Service informed.
A total of 14 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospitals and 15 others were discharged in the past 24 hours.
Of the 35 Covid-19 patients hospitalized with Covid-19 as their main diagnosis, 27 have moderate symptoms and eight are severe cases.
As reported, another 206 people in Latvia tested positive for Covid-19 and two persons died of the coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours, the Center for Disease Prevention and Control informed LETA.
Of the 1,932 Covid-19 tests carried out on Thursday, 10.7 percent returned positive. Of the new Covid-19 cases recorded in the past 24 hours, 93 people were unvaccinated or had not completed their vaccination course and 113 people were fully vaccinated.
Latvia's cumulative two-week number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population rose from 133.3 to 137.8.
The cumulative seven-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population increased from 77 to 77.1.
Of the latest Covid-19 fatalities, one person was aged between 80 and 89 years and one between 90 and 99 years. One of them was unvaccinated or had not completed the vaccination course, while the other was vaccinated.
Covid-19 has so far killed 5,844 people in Latvia.
Latvia has recorded 831,727 laboratory confirmed Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
According to LETA's estimates, 1,446 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the past seven days.
