41.1% of households in Latvia consist of one person - statistics
RIGA, July 30 (LETA) - In Latvia, 41.1 percent of households consist of one person, LETA learned from the Central Statistical Bureau.
In early 2021, there were 824,800 private households in Latvia. There is at least one minor living in 217,300 or 26.3 percent of all households in Latvia.
As many as 41.1 percent of all households consist of one person - most often in Riga (45 percent), Latgale (42.5 percent), and less often in Pieriga (36.8 percent).
Of all one-person households 58.7 percent are women.
One fourth or 25.5 percent of households consist of two persons, while every third household consists of 3-5 persons. 3.7 percent of all households consist of six or more persons.
According to the statistical data, there are 358,500 children in Latvia, and 1,100 or 0.3 percent of them live in institutional households. Of all households in Latvia, 54 percent have one child, 32.9 percent have two children, and 13.1 percent have three or more children.
As many as 1.867 million people or 98.6 percent live in private households in Latvia. The average number of people in a household is 2.26.
Also, 25,900 people or 1.4 percent live outside private households - in institutional households, such as orphanages or social care homes and prisons.
