Surgery ward at Ventspils Hospital has also been re-profiled for treatment of Covid-19 patients
RIGA, Nov 5 (LETA) - As of yesterday, the Surgery Ward at Ventspils Hospital has also been re-profiled for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, thus the hospital will gradually have an additional 18 beds available for such patients, Linda Rudzroga, the hospital's public relations head, told LETA.
Thus, the hospital already has five wards adapted for the treatment of Covid-19 patients - Infectious Diseases, Palliative Care, Intensive Care, Cardiology and Surgery. Treatment of patients with these profiles is provided in other wards. Specialists mainly stay in the relevant ward and provide treatment for Covid-19 patients, Rudzroga explains.
On Friday, 45 Covid-19 patients are being treated at Ventspils Hospital. Four patients have been admitted in the last day and two have been discharged. At present, all ten adapted beds in the hospital's Talsi branch have been filled. It is expected that in the near future it will be possible to adjust five more beds in the Talsi branch for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, informs Rudzroga.
She adds that there is currently no critical situation in the morgues of Ventspils Hospital or the Talsi branch.
The issue of oxygen supply has also been resolved. It is planned to place an additional temporary oxygen tank in the territory of Ventspils Hospital, so that the provision would be stable even as the number of Covid-19 patients increases, Rudzroga adds.
