More people allowed to gather for private and public events

RIGA, June 22 (LETA) - As the epidemiological situation improves, the government decided to ease the restrictions, allowing more people to gather for private and public events.

According to the amendments, as the two-week cumulative Covid-19 incidence drops below 100 cases per 100,000 residents, it will be possible to gather in line with the three safety levels - the green level, the yellow level and the red level.

The green level means that all participants of the event have certificates proving their Covid-19 vaccination or recovery, and there are no restrictions for the number of participants in private and public events.

On the yellow level - all participants have certificates proving their Covid-19 vaccination or recovery or a negative Covid-19 test. In this case, up to 500 people may gather indoors, and up to 1,000 people may gather outdoors. Children up to 12 may participate in the events without Covid-19 tests.

The red level includes private events of people who are not vaccinated, have not recovered from Covid-19 and do not have a negative Covid-19 test. In such cases, up to 20 people indoors and up to 50 people outdoors from different households are allowed to gather.

At the same time, if a steep rise in Covid-19 incidence is observed - by 20 percent, but not over 120 cases per 100,000 residents, additional precautions might be introduced. If the rise is even steeper, the current restriction are again put in force.

Places of high Covid-19 risks, such as sports venues, places providing services have to ensure at least 15 square meters space per person.

Places with medium Covid-19 risks, such as exhibition halls, museums, religious venues, also providers of beauty and wellbeing services should ensure at least ten square meters space per person.

Shopping venues should ensure 15 square meters per person.

The amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers regulations will come into force on Wednesday, June 23.
