Rigas Siltums plans to increase heating tariffs by 3.9% as of March
RIGA, Jan 27 (LETA) - Rigas Siltums municipal heating company has submitted a new heating tariff project to the Public Utilities Commission, providing a rise in heating tariffs by 3.9 percent as of March 1, according to information published on Latvia's official gazette Latvijas Vestnesis.
At present, the company's end tariff is EUR 66.76 per MWh, but starting from March 1 the tariff will grow to EUR 69.36 per MWh.
Starting from March 1, 2023, Rigas Siltums offers a tariff of EUR 68.31 per MWh, which would be by 2.8 percent higher than the current tariff.
The company explains the tariff hike with higher fuel and energy prices.
In the present heating season, Rigas Siltums' tariff has increased twice - by 26.6 percent from September 1, 2021, and by another 16.5 percent from November 1. Thus, in total, the rise has been by 47.5 percent this season.
Rigas Siltums is one of the main heat suppliers in Riga - the company transmits and distributes 76 percent of all heat in Riga. The company's shareholders include the Riga City Council - 49 percent of shares, the state of Latvia - 48.995 percent, Energijas Risinajumi. RIX - 2 percent, and Latvenergo - 0.005 percent.
