Heating tariff in Aizkraukle to increase 2.1 times in June
RIGA, May 16 (LETA) - Heating tariff in Aizkraukle will increase 2.1 times up to EUR 90.77 per megawatt-hour, effective June 1, according to a statement printed in the government gazette Latvijas Vestnesis.
The change in the tariff is due to a significant increase in the price of fuel - natural gas, and the price of purchased heat energy, the Public Utilities Commission told LETA. The price of fuel has increased 2.8 times, while the price of purchased heat energy has increased by 81.2 percent.
The Public Utilities Commission explains that natural gas prices have increased significantly in recent months due to the war in Ukraine. Prices of biomass fuels - especially woodchips and pellets - also continue to rise, albeit not as fast as natural gas prices.
Aizkraukles Siltums heating utility submitted its new tariff to the Public Utilities Commission on April 27. The commission reviewed the new tariff and concluded that the proposed tariff was justified.
In 2021, Aizkraukles Siltums posted EUR 1.717 million in turnover and EUR 27,006 in profit, according to Firmas.lv. The company was registered in 1991 and has a share capital of EUR 1.058 million. The company belongs to Aizkraukle Region Council.
