Riga, Oct 8 (LETA) - A road in Aizkraukle region is currently closed due to an operation to apprehend illegal migrants, the police informed LETA.

In a special operation this morning, the State Police, in cooperation with the State Border Guard, detained several dozen illegal migrants and their carriers, who were using a vehicle with imitated police identity coloring for criminal activities.

Traffic is currently partially blocked in Aizkraukle region, Staburags municipality, on the Svente-Subate road. The police urge drivers to take an alternative route and follow the instructions given by the police officers.

The police are currently continuing their work together with the border guards and will inform about the results of the operation as soon as possible.
