Requirement for vaccination certificate has not caused dramatic situation at schools - minister
RIGA, Nov 15 (LETA) - The requirement for vaccination certificate has not caused a dramatic situation at schools, said Education and Science Minister Anita Muizniece (New Conservative Party) in an interview with the Latvian public radio today.
The politician said that there are some education establishments in Latvia with a larger share of unvaccinated employees. A survey conducted in October showed that about 5 percent of teachers are ready to leave work due to mandatory vaccination requirement. "Overall, the situation is not dramatic," the minister said.
The minister also said that Covid-19 testing problems have been solved, the cooperation between schools and labs has improved. The new antigen testing also should prevent the chaos that was present in schools in September.
As reported, in-person education has resumed in all grades in Latvia with exception of three municipalities. Riga and Liepaja have extended remote education for grades 7-12, while Ventspils has extended remote learning for grades 4-12.
