Rigas Satiksme to purchase 120 new buses
RIGA, May 8 (LETA) - Riga municipal public transport company Rigas Satiksme is planning to purchase 120 new buses, the company informed LETA.
Rigas Satiksme has announced a market analysis for the purchase of 18-meter-long buses - 60 electric and 60 diesel buses.
The purpose of the market study is to identify possible delivery dates, technical solutions and indicative costs.
Following the market study, a procurement procedure will be launched.
The aim of the market study is to obtain comprehensive information on new technological solutions offered by the automotive industry, including hybrid drive options, various active and passive safety systems, autonomous driving options, remote diagnostics and other solutions.
At the same time, delivery deadlines and indicative costs will be clarified.
During the market study, Rigas Satiksme will pay particular attention to solutions that contribute to more efficient and sustainable operation of vehicles. Maintenance efficiency will also be an important factor - buses should be designed to be quick, easy and less resource-intensive to maintain. At the same time, the market study will assess solutions that improve road safety for drivers and passengers as well as for other road users.
The market study will analyze a wide range of potential suppliers, from international bus manufacturers to official dealers in and outside the European Union.
Rigas Satiksme's turnover amounted to EUR 184.044 million and profit to EUR 1.838 million in 2023.
Rigas Satiksme provides passenger transportation by buses, trams and trolleybuses in Riga, as well as manages parking lots and parking spaces.
