The 31st congress of the Latvian Association of Local Governments to be held next week
RIGA, Aug 12 (LETA) - On August 20, the 31st congress of the Latvian Association of Local Governments (LPS) will take place to elect the board, the chairman of the board and deputies, said LPS representative Ella Petermane.
The congress will focus on the work of local governments after the Administrative Territorial Reform.
The congress will be held in person, meeting all the epidemiological safety regulations.
Latvian President Egils Levits, parliament speaker Inara Murniece, Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) and Environment Protection and Regional Development Minister Arturs Toms Pless (For Development) have been invited to participate in the meeting.
LPS chairman since 2017 is Gints Kaminskis. He said that he will run for the position repeatedly. So far there is no information about any other candidates for the position.
The congress will be held in Salacgriva.
