RIGA, March 8 (LETA) - Local governments should know who has Covid-19 in their territories, said Gints Kaminskis, the chairman of the Latvian Association of Local Governments, in an interview with commercial TV3 television today.
Kaminskis underscored that it is necessary so that local governments may ensure epidemiologically sage environment, for example, at schools.
He said that Latvia is among those European countries where distance learning has been held for the longest time - for four months already in senior grades. Kaminskis noted that he supports looking for solutions to resume on-site learning.
Kaminskis said that rural schools still do not have enough computers for distance learning. In his words, another EUR 40 million should be invested in solving this problems, assuming that one computer costs about EUR 700.
Speaking about the vaccination process, he said that local governments are ready to provide support in organization of the vaccination process, but communication between local governments and the state has to improved in order to understand what is necessary for successful work.
