609 companies in Liepaja receive state aid during Covid-19 crisis
RIGA, Aug 2 (LETA) - From November 9, 2020 to June 30 this year a total of 609 companies in Latvia's southwestern port city Liepaja received at least one of the four types of state support that were provided to businesses to help them cope with the impact of Covid-19, LETA was told at the city's government.
Downtime benefits were provided to 443 Liepaja-based companies, wage subsidies were paid to 171 companies, working capital grants were provided to 317 enterprises. Also, 25 companies received compensations under a support program for hotels. Each company could apply for all four types of state support.
The payments of downtime benefits ended June 30.
In late July, unemployment in Liepaja was 5.9 percent in late July, the local authority informed, citing the latest data from the State Employment Agency.
