RIGA, March 23 (LETA) - Daugavpils City Council is planning to open a large vaccination center at the beginning of April, as Daugavpils Vice-Mayor Livija Jankovska (Our Party) told reporters on Tuesday.

Last week, representatives from the Vaccination Bureau visited Daugavpils to meet with the local government's specialists.

"There will be a vaccination center in Daugavpils on April 1. We have defined very clear objectives. First of all, we have to find premises of at least 500 square meters in area," said Jankovska.

The local government will also have to create eight jobs for vaccinators, provide the furniture, Internet connections, electricity. All workplaces will have to comply with the epidemiological safety requirements and be equipped with protective screens, said Jankovska.

Home Guard members will help with organizing visitor flows and enforcing Covid-19 safety rules.

According to the municipality, the vaccination center will be located at Daugavpils Olympic Center. The vaccination center is expected to operate for up to two-and-a-half months.
