Funding for Ukrainian war refugees increased by EUR 11.8 million
Riga, June 29 (LETA) - The government plans to allocate an additional EUR 11.8 million to local governments to compensate them for the expenses incurred in hosting war refugees from Ukraine, according to a draft government decree submitted for approval.
Taking into account the EUR 11.7 million previously allocated, a total of EUR 23.5 million will be made available for this purpose between December 2024 and November 2025.
These funds are intended to compensate local authorities for the costs incurred in providing support to the Ukrainian population, including accommodation and catering, social support and education services.
The funds are planned until November, as the actual expenditure for December 2025 will not be known until January next year.
