RIGA, Oct 2 (LETA) - A total of 912,180 voters or 59.14 percent of eligible voters in Latvia participated in the 14th Saeima elections, taking into account those citizens who submitted their votes for safekeeping at polling stations in the past several days, according to data compiled by the Central Election Commission.

The data cover polling stations in Latvia and other countries where voting has come to a close.

833,089 voters, or 54.01 percent of Latvian citizens, cast their votes on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voter turnout in the 14th Saeima elections is higher than in the previous three parliamentary elections held in 2018, 2014 and 2011.

Four years ago, voter turnout stood at 54.56 percent, in 2014 at 56.49 percent, and in 2011 at 57.99 percent.

Voter turnout was higher in the 10th Saeima elections in 2010, when 63.12 percent of voters participated in the elections.
