    Turnover of regional passenger carrier CATA increased by 3.3% last year

    Riga, April 28 (LETA) - Regional bus passenger carrier CATA last year worked with a turnover of EUR 15.237 million, which is 3.3 percent more than a year earlier, but the company's profit decreased by 8.7 percent to EUR 722,079, according to the information of Firmas.lv.

    The company's revenue from regular passenger transport amounted to EUR 14.045 million last year, which is 92.2 percent of the total turnover. Compared to 2023, revenue from regular passenger services increased by 3.7 percent.

    In turn, revenues from non-regular passenger transport by buses amounted to EUR 416,200 or 2.7 percent of turnover, while revenues from vehicle repair services and spare parts sales accounted for 1.6 percent of total turnover, from bus station services - 1.3 percent, from rent of premises - 2 percent, and from CATA culture center and other revenues - 0.2 percent.

    The management reported that CATA's performance and financial result last year depended on regular passenger services, the state funding allocated and the customer's ability to compensate for contract losses.

    Total revenue from ticket sales increased by 8.9 percent or EUR 353,400 last year compared to 2023.

    Last year CATA purchased eight new Mercedes Benz Sprinter buses, as well as four second-hand Mercedes Benz Integro buses, one Mersedes Benz Intouro bus and one Mercedes Benz Tourismo bus to renew its bus fleet.

    The total mileage of CATA on regional routes in 2024 was 10.013 million kilometers, a decrease of 6,900 kilometers or 0.1 percent compared to 2023. The number of passengers carried on regular passenger services in 2024 was 3.333 million, a decrease of 14,100 or 0.4 percent compared to 2023.

    Last year, non-regular passenger transport by bus travelled 330,100 kilometers, a decrease of 13.5 percent compared to the previous year.

    In 2023, CATA's turnover was EUR 14.753 million and profit reached EUR 790,620.

    CATA was registered in 1991 and has a share capital of EUR 1.497 million. According to information published on CATA's website, the company's shares are owned by the municipalities of Aizkraukle, Cesis, Limbazi, Ogre, Smiltene and three private shareholders.
