Riga Hospital No.1 to open beds for Covid-19 patients
RIGA, Oct 18 (LETA) - Riga Hospital No.1 plans to open beds for Covid-19 patients, Riga City Mayor Martins Stakis (For/Progressives) said on social networks.
The medical institution was used for treatment of Covid-19 patients already in spring. Now, in the nearest days Covid-19 beds will be opened again, reducing the burden of state hospitals.
Riga Hospital No.2, meanwhile, will open beds for other patients, thus, supporting those hospitals who are treating Covid-19 patients. So far Riga Hospital No. 2 provided emergency assistance in case of traumas and offered daytime services for treatment and therapy for bone and joint disorders.
"We are waiting for the latest decisions and are ready to convene the meeting of the Riga Crisis Management Group," said Stakis.
As reported, the number of new Covid-19 cases in Latvia kept showing new records every day last week, and the number of Covid-19 patients in hospitals exceeded 1,000 for the first time since February.
Two-week cumulative Covid-19 incidence also keeps climbing and has reached 1,266,4 cases per 100,000 residents, which is so far the highest level reached in Latvia so far.
As reported, the state of emergency has been declared in Latvia until January 11, 2022.
