Ten municipalities decide to organize mobile polling stations

Riga, May 9 (LETA) - A total of ten municipalities have decided to organize mobile polling stations in the upcoming local elections, the Central Election Commission (CVK) told LETA.

Ten municipalities have informed the Central Election Commission about their decision to organize mobile polling stations - Aluksne municipality, Augsdaugava municipality, Balvi municipality, Dobele municipality, Jelgava municipality, Jekabpils municipality, Olaine municipality, Rezekne state city, Salaspils municipality, as well as Smiltene municipality.

Five of these municipalities - Aluksne, Dobele, Jelgava, Olaine and Smiltene - have decided to allow voters to vote at a polling station on a bus.

In Rezekne, both on the previous voting days and on election day, June 7, it will be possible to vote at a mobile polling station in various parking lots at certain times.

In Augsdaugava municipality, Balvi municipality, Jelgava municipality, Jekabpils municipality and Salaspils municipality, certain locations have been identified where people will be able to vote at specific times in addition to the pre-announced polling stations - libraries, schools, community centers and elsewhere.

As already reported, in order to make polling stations more accessible to voters, municipalities may, if necessary, decide to set up mobile polling stations where citizens can cast their votes.

Local elections will be held in early June.
