    Covid-19 incidence in 3 municipalities outside Riga exceeds 5,000 cases per 100,000 population

    RIGA, Jan 26 (LETA) - In three municipalities outside Riga - Marupe, Adazi and Kekava - the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population exceeds 5,000, according to the data released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

    In the municipalities of Olaine and Ropazi, as well as in the cities of Riga and Jelgava, 14-day Covid-19 incidence surpasses 4,000 cases per 100,000 population. 

    Across Latvia, cumulative two-week Covid-19 incidence has increased to 3,239.9 cases per 100,000 population. Apart from the aforementioned municipalities, Covid-19 incidence exceeds Latvia's average also in the municipalities of Salaspils, Jelgava and Valmiera, as well as the city of Daugavpils. 

    Meanwhile, the lowest Covid-19 incidence has been reported in the eastern Latvian municipalities of Varaklani and Rezekne, as well as the southwestern municipality of Dienvidkurzeme.

    Of the 9,143 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Latvia in the past 24 hours, 35 percent, or 3,227 cases, have been recorded in Riga.
