Local governments of Balvi and Gulbene start cooperation with Health Inspectorate in organization of Covid-19 screenings
RIGA, March 5 (LETA) - Local governments of Balvi and Gulbene have started cooperation with the Health Inspectorate in organization of Covid-19 screening tests, LETA learned from the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).
Screenings will be carried out in risk groups, groups of people with epidemiological risks. Epidemiologists said that the local government has the best knowledge about the situation and risk contacts that need additional testing in their territories.
Local governments of Balvi and Gulbene have voiced a wish to start crowd testing and has started cooperation with the Health Inspectorate.
CDC said that there has been earlier experience with local Covid-19 testing in Kuldiga and Vecpiebalga counties and other municipalities.
CDC also noted that currently, 12,000-15,000 Covid-19 tests are carried out a day, which is a sufficiently high indicator for Latvia.
