Foreign ambassadors to visit Vidzeme on Wednesday
RIGA, Sept 21 (LETA) - Tomorrow, September 22, the heads of diplomatic missions in Latvia will go on an annual regional trip, this time to Vidzeme, where they will visit Smiltene, Aluksne, Stameriena and Gulbene.
During the visit, he ambassadors will get acquainted with the cultural history of Vidzeme, business opportunities it offers, and Vidzeme tourism and hospitality industry, the Foreign Ministry informed LETA. More than 60 officials will take part in the trip.
In Smiltene, the ambassadors will visit Smiltene Vocational School and Smiltenes Piens dairy company.
While in Aluksne, the ambassadors will visit Aluksne Culture Center and meet with Aluksne Region Council Chairman Dzintars Adlers. They will also see an exhibition by local craftsmen, visit chipboard producer Cewood and Aluksnes Putnu Ferma egg producer. The ambassadors will then take the narrow gauge train to Gulbene.
In Gulbene, the ambassadors will visit metalworking company Rubate Metal, go on tour of Stameriena Palace, meet with Gulbene Region Council Chairman Andis Caunitis, as well as visit Vecgulbene Manor in the vicinity of Gulbene.
Each year, the Foreign Ministry organizes foreign ambassadors' trips to the regions of Latvia. Last year, the ambassadors visited Zemgale, while before that - Latgale and Kurzeme.
There are 117 foreign diplomatic missions and 13 missions of international organizations in Latvia.
