RIGA, Jan 12 (LETA) - Of the 878 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Latvia over the past 24 hours, more than 30 percent have been recorded in Riga, while the infection has also spread strongly in Engure county, according to the data from the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

The 299 new cases discovered in Riga brought the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases in the Latvian capital to 3,767. In Daugavpils, the cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases reached 1,018, with 63 cases confirmed in the past 24 hours.

The cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases in Engure county rose to 202, with 51 cases recorded in the past 24 hours.

With 3,767 Covid-19 cases recorded in the past two weeks, Riga remains the municipality with the highest cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases, followed by Daugavpils with 1,018, and Rezekne with 536.

Latvia's cumulative 14-day number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population is now 686.8.
