People's mobility over past weeks declined by about 40% - Health Ministry
RIGA, Nov 12 (LETA) - The National Health Service modules demonstrated that people's mobility over the past weeks have dropped by about 40 percent, Health Ministry's representative Jana Feldmane told the press.
Google mobility data showed that the number of visitors at retail and recreation places declined by 41 percent, un public transport by 42 percent, in workplaces by 35 percent. At the same time, the number of people staying at their homes has increased by 12 percent.
"We see that the restrictions have ensured the necessary effect. At the same time, the situation still is unstable, this is just the beginning, and this trend may change, therefore we should be cautious," she said.
On November 1-7, the number of new Covid-19 cases in Latvia declined by 23.4 percent, and the number of hospitalized Covid-19 patients dropped by 3.4 percent.
The infection reproductivity indicator has declined by 0.17 to 0.8.
As reported, the decision of the strict lockdown regulations in Latvia that are in force until November 15, was explained with the necessity to reduce contacts among people by 40 percent.
