Daugavpils to buy 47 environmentally friendly buses for EUR 12.75 million
RIGA, Feb 2 (LETA) - Daugavpils is planning to buy 47 environmentally friendly buses with the help of European Union funds, the purchase will cost a total of EUR 12.75 million, LETA learned from the Transport Ministry.
To make the city's public transport more comfortable for passengers and more environmentally friendly, several tram lines are currently reconstructed in Daugavpils, the city is planning to buy new trams and environmentally friendly buses. The city's transport development projects are supported by the Transport Ministry and co-financed by the EU.
Last November, Daugavpils signed a contract for the purchase of 20 new buses running on compressed natural gas. A contract for the purchase of another new environmentally friendly buses is to be signed in the near future.
The third contract for the purchase of 12 new environmentally friendly buses will be signed by the end of 2023.
