New Unity wins local elections in Kekava Region
RIGA, June 6 (LETA) - Mayor Viktorija Baire's New Unity party emerged as the winner in local elections in Kekava Region on Saturday, getting 24.12 percent of the vote.
The joint ticket of For Development of Latvia and Growth came second with 20.13 percent and the Latvian Association of Regions placed third with 15.3 percent.
The Latvian Farmers' Union won 13.99 percent of the vote, followed by the National Alliance with 9.32 percent and the New Conservative Party with 5.04 percent.
As reported, 327,938 voters or 34.01 percent of eligible voters cast their votes in this year's local government elections, according to the Central Election Commission's data.
This is the lowest voter turnout since the restoration of independence.
