Share of regional roads in good condition has reached 48.6% - LVC state road manager
RIGA, Dec 14 (LETA) - The share of regional roads in good and very good conditions has increased to 48.6 percent thanks to repairs, which is by 11.4 percentage points more than a year ago, LETA learned from Latvijas Valsts Celi (LVC) state road manager.
At the same time, 76.3 percent of Latvia's main roads are in good and very good conditions, up 4.3 percentage points from a year ago.
LVC representatives said that in 2020, as many as 248 road repair and renovation projects were conducted, including 50 bridges, renovating 1,370 kilometers of roads. Of those, 500 kilometers of roads and eight bridges have been renovated for EUR 75 million allocated from the state budget.
The company's board chairman Janis Lange said that thanks to additional allocation from the state budget, LVC could conduct more renovation projects than initially planned.
LVC, established in 2004, belongs to the Latvian state. According to the LVC report, the company manages 20,081 kilometers of state roads, handles the state road network's financing, manages and controls related works, organizes tenders for public contracts, as well as manages and supervises road construction programs.
