In-person school attendance permitted in 31 municipalities of Latvia next week
RIGA, May 12 (LETA) - As of next Monday, students in grades 1-6, grade 12, as well as grades 7-9 and 10-11 on a rotational basis will be able to learn in classrooms in 31 epidemiologically safe municipalities, according to the latest data from the Disease Prevention and Control Center.
Although the number of "safe municipalities" has not changed, some municipalities have been added to and some have been removed from the list.
The municipalities removed from the "safe list" include the regions of Ape, Cesvaine, Dagda, Krustpils, Strenci and Viesite.
Meanwhile, the regions of Broceni, Livani, Pavliosta, Rauna, Sala and Tervete have been added to the list of safe municipalities.
The following local governments currently meet the Education and Science Ministry's criterion of no more than 250 Covid-19 cases per 100,000 residents over the past fourteen days: Aizpute, Akniste, Alsunga, Baldone, Baltinava, Beverina, Broceni, Dundaga, Ilukste, Jaunpiebalga, Kandava, Koceni, Livani, Mazsalaca, Naukseni, Nereta, Nica, Pargauja, Pavilosta, Priekule, Priekuli, Rauna, Roja, Rucava, Salacgriva, Salas, Tervete, Vainode, Valka and Varaklani, as well as Jekabpils city.
The new list of local governments where in-person school attendance is allowed will come into force on May 17.
